Silversea Cruises’ newest vessel Silver Ray is almost ready to set sail. This week, the cruise line celebrated a major construction milestone with the float out of Silver Ray at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.
Crews began building the line’s second Nova-class ship roughly 15 months ago in November 2022. Now, they’re putting the finishing touches on the vessel ahead of its planned debut in the Mediterranean in June
In the near future, Silver Ray will travel 20 miles along the Ems River to the North Sea, where sea trials will take place.
The ship will spend its first season in the Mediterranean, then cross the Atlantic in December for cruises around South America.
Silver Ray will be the sixth vessel added to Silversea’s fleet in the last three years. Most recently, the brand launched Silver Nova last summer.
“We received such incredibly strong feedback on Silver Nova from guests, travel advisors and members of the press following her launch in August 2023,” says Barbara Muckermann, president of Silversea. “Sustaining the wave of innovation that is driving our success, the launch of Silver Ray will strengthen Royal Caribbean Group’s unwavering commitment to delivering a lifetime of vacations for guests, with its industry-leading global brands.”
